Mahayagya to be organized for international cricket stadium



CHITWAN: A Mahayagya is set to be held from February 2-9 to seek support for the construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium at Rampur of Chitwan district.

The main committee comprising 1,111 members had been formed under the leadership of State Assembly member Bijaya Subedi for the Dhanadhanyanchal Mahayagya.

General Secretary of the committee, Dinesh Kumar Chuke informed that the Mahayagya is expected to raise a fund of Rs 500 million.

Pandit Dinabandhu Pokharel will recite Hindu scriptures on the occasion. This has become one of the most popular means for raising funds for public works in the country.

The Mahayagya will be held in the stadium construction site.

Currently, the construction of the international stadium is gaining pace with support from different quarters.

Dhurmush Suntali Foundation Chairperson Sitaram Kattel said that the stadium construction is gaining momentum.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to be signed with international experts for the construction of the cricket pitch, he said.

According to the Foundation, they may require an estimated cost of Rs 2.5 billion to complete the stadium.
