KATHMANDU: Kantipur daily has highlighted issues ranging from Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN)’s pull out of the government to the establishment of a bank in a village in Kalikot district.
Kailali District Court sentenced 11 people including lawmaker of RJPN Resham Lal Chaudhary to life in prison on Wednesday. Hearing the case filed against them on Tikapur incident, a single bench of district judge Parshuram Bhattarai slapped a life imprisonment on them for their involvement in Tikapur incident. Seven police personnel including SP Laxman Neupane and a toddler had been killed in a clash between police and Tharu agitators in Tikapur on August 24, 2015.
Meanwhile, taking strong exception to the court’s decision, RJPN withdrew its support to the KP Oli-led government. Rajendra Mahato, a presidium member of the RJPN, warned of stringent protest ahead if the government did not pardon Chaudhary.
