Whereabouts of abducted Rural Municipality Chairman still unknown

Wife Ila found in jungle

DAILEKH: Whereabouts of Chairman of Thatikadh Rural Municipality of the district Dhir Bahadur Sahi is still unknown.

However, his wife Ila has been found safe and sound in the jungle.

The couple was allegedly abducted by cadres of the outlawed Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav outfit on Saturday night.

Karnali State Police Chief DIG Purnachandra Joshi said that the abductors left Ila in the jungle.

Sahi is also a District Committee member of the ruling Nepal Communist Party while his wife Ila is a central Vice-Chairman of Nepal National Teachers Organization.

Police said a gang of 15 persons had abducted the couple from their home, adding they have started a manhunt to nab kidnappers and release Shahi.

Cadres of Biplav outfit had sent a warning letter to the Rural Municipality Chairman accusing him of misusing the budget of the rural municipality.

Thus, the police assume the banned outfit is behind the kidnapping.
