KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in ‘abducting’ two children.

A team of Kathmandu police arrested Aashish Sijapati from Baneswor and Binod Thapa Magar from Gorkha on the charge of kidnapping kids from Samakhusi area in Kathmandu.

According to DSP Hobindra Bogati, Sijapati had ‘kidnapped’ last week when the children’s mother had gone to Pokhara.

The mother of the two children told the police that her children were accustomed to the kidnapper whom they used to call him ‘maternal uncle’.

Sijapati, who had lent Rs 200,000 to the children’s mother, used to come to their house quite often.

According to the police, Sijapati could have abducted the kids as their mother had failed to repay the amount on time.

Sijapati and his accomplice had kept the kids in a hotel at Tokha in Kathmandu. They had demanded Rs 300,000 as ransom.
