Visit Nepal 2020 to kick-start from Sauraha in State 3



CHITWAN: Visit Nepal 2020 will begin from Sauraha in State 3.

State 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel is scheduled to inaugurate the event on January 3 in Sauraha amid a special event.

The 18th elephant festival which is scheduled to begin from December 26 in Chitwan will be extended by four days to coincide with the inauguration of the Visit Nepal Year 2020, according to Dipak Bhattarai, President of the Regional Hotel Association, Chitwan.

Similarly, various tourism-related programs such as bullock cart racing, chariot racing, and boat race will be organized targeting the Visit Nepal Year, Bhattarai said.

The State 3 government would organize a special program for promoting Sauraha of Chitwan as the country’s best tourism destination.

Tens of thousands of tourists visit Sauraha every year to observe wildlife such as elephants, rhinos, and tigers as well as the indigenous Tharu culture.

Events such as food festivals, night jeep safari, and other activities would also be held targeting the Visit Year.

The State 3 government has a target of welcoming 400,000 tourists in Chitwan during the Visit Nepal Year 2020.
