Australian, Swiss Ambassadors call on Minister Gurung



KATHMANDU: Australian Ambassador to Nepal Peter Budd and Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Elisabeth von Capeller paid a courtesy call on Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung on Monday.

During the courtesy call at the Minister Gurung’s workplace in Singha Durbar, discussions were held on issues of bilateral benefits between Nepal and Australia and Switzerland.

On the occasion, Minister Gurung said that the government was committed to working with friendly nations to accomplish the campaign of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis’.

In reply, ambassadors said their country was eager to co-work with Nepal for the uplifting of women, children, senior citizens and people with disabilities. They also wished the newly-appointed minister for a successful tenure.

Ambassadors expressed their concern about upcoming plans on the Social Welfare Council.

In reply, Minister Gurung said discussions are underway for legal, policy and organization review of the council to make it more effective.
