DOLPA: An aircraft of Summit Air that had to halt its service since Friday due to bad weather conditions took off on Saturday from Dolpa-based Jufal airport to Nepalgunj by clearing the snow-blanketed runway.

The snow was removed from the runway at around 2 pm with the help of a tractor, police and airport employees, said Sub Inspector Kamal Shah.

The aircraft that flew from Nepalgunj airport got stuck at Jufal airport due to bad weather conditions coupled with snowfall, he said.

However, no other flight operated at Jufal airport on Saturday due to snowfall.

Many airlines are scheduled to operate flights at the airport on Sunday as the snow-blanketed road has been cleared, said airport authorities.

Similarly, flights at Simkot airport have come to a halt for the past three days due to the runway covered in snow.

Continuous snowfall in Humla district for two days has taken a toll.

However, the local government and airport authorities have been unheard of the problem, complained to the passengers.
