13th Parliament Service Day observed

KATHMANDU: Staff at the Federal Parliament Service on Saturday observed the 13th Parliament Service Day amid a ceremony at the Parliament Building in Baneshwor.

On the occasion, the parliamentary secretariat employees have voiced a complaint about their challenges while stressing the need for forming an effective training mechanism so as to encourage staff and for Parliament to carry out its research-based work as practiced by foreign countries for its improved service.

On the occasion, four parliament service employees were honored for their excellent performance in the fiscal 2075/76 BS.

Under-secretary Dasharath Dhamala received the ‘Parliament Service Excellent Award’ carrying a purse of Rs 100,000. Likewise, non-gazetted first-class officer Renuka Subedi was honored with the award, which carries a cash prize of Rs 75,000. Office helper Janga Bahadur Magar and technician Gambir Man Singh each also got award carrying a purse of Rs 50,000.

Addressing the event, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsena underscored the need for lawmakers and Parliament Service employees to stand together so as to make Parliament and Parliament Committee works effectively. The Parliament Service staff should proactively perform to improve the delivery of Parliamentary service. “Parliamentary members and staff should work together to complement each other’s performance”, he said.
