DAMAK: Bhutanese refugees have demanded repatriation to their country before the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) at Damak, Jhapa.
Refugees wanting to go back to Bhutan also submitted a memorandum at the UNHCR section office.
Bhutanese refugees have been languishing in several camps of Jhapa and Morang for the past three decades.
They have been seeking support from the UNHCR to facilitate their repatriation with the assurance for obtaining their property ownership.
In the memorandum, the refugees have said that their economic, social and familial structures have been broken.
According to them, the memorandum was to draw attention of the United Nations to ensure their right to graceful repatriation in line with the Article 13 (2) of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
Around 7,000 Bhutanese refugees are currently languishing at Pathari and Beldangi camps of Morang and Jhapa.
