5 Nepalis stranded in Indonesia

KATHMANDU: Five Nepalis en route to America duped by human traffickers for foreign employment, have been stranded in Indonesia for the last nine months.

They were being taken to the United States by traffickers via Indonesia, the Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police said.

They are currently under the control of the Immigration Office of Indonesia.

However, police have not revealed their names.

According to the Bureau, the agents had received Rs 1.5 million to 2 million from each of them for taking them to America.

The stranded people had surrendered to the immigration department after the expiration of their visas.

Indonesian police have given mental and physical torture to them, DSP Narahari Regmi said adding that the stranded Nepalis have reported for rescue.
