4 arrested for stealing Rs 1.2 million worth of handicraft items



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four persons on charge of stealing handicraft items made from glass and brass worth Rs 1.2 million from Kathmandu.

A team from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Swayambhu made the arrest of Daya Ram Gahatraj of Kavrepalanchok, Roshan Lama, Man Bahadur Bishwokarma and Ram Lal Tamang. The arrestees stole the items from a handicraft factory run by one Ramesh Rasaili of Kavrepalanchok district at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15, police investigations said.

The stolen items were hidden in an apartment of Lama at Banasthali, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Laldhoj Subedi. The stolen items are bells (445 pieces), Nausinge Dorje (150 pieces), Charsinge Andi (115 pieces) and parts of bell (605 pieces).
