Ministry of Communications secures 64 percent progress



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) and its subordinate bodies reviewed the progress they made in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

It was shared in the review meeting that the Ministry and subordinate bodies secured 64 percent progress in the first four months of the ongoing fiscal year.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry Radhika Aryal shared this information at the review and the meeting of the ministry level development problem solution committee on Sunday.

Aryal further said out of the total budget allocation (Rs 1.78 billion under current expenditure, Rs 678 million under the capital expenditure), the Ministry achieved 84 percent progress under the current and 10.71 under the capital expenditure this quarter.

The budget arranged from the internal source of the Ministry and subordinate bodies is Rs 23.61 billion.

According to her, the budget allocated on a quarterly basis to Gorkhapatra Corporation was released in a lump sum, which contributed to the Ministry’s 99.5 percent financial progress.

Various other information relating to Ministry activities as the publication of the Advertisement Act in the gazette, formation of Mass Media Act were shared at the program.

Aryal informed that works such as valuation of the properties, structure recommendation, organization, and management survey were forwarded to transform Radio Nepal and Nepal Television as the public service broadcasters.

According to the Ministry, the National Satellite Policy-2076 BS was already ready and the Digital Nepal Framework was approved by the Council of Ministers.  It was shared that a survey for establishing the Advertisement Board was conducted while a preliminary draft of the national frequency determination plan and policies was ready over this period.

Furthermore, it was told that broadband internet services were expanded to 31 municipalities; postal air service initiated in the remote areas, local production guide prepared for the promotion of cinema tourism and 4G expanded to 50 of 77 districts.
