EC ensures insurance to human resources for by-elections

KATHMANDU: Accident insurance en masse has been ensured for those 5,552 human resources to be mobilized during the upcoming November 30 by-elections. The by-elections for the members of House of Representatives, State Assembly and local levels have been fixed on the above mentioned date.

According to the Election Commission, the insurance scheme includes voters’ education volunteers, employees to be deputed at the polling centers, volunteers for other election-related purposes and employees for votes counting.

The insurance amount is two million rupees each. As per the schedule, 2,684 employees and 2,134 volunteers will be stationed at the polling centers.

The number of employees meant for votes counting in Kaski, Dang, Baglung, Sunsari and Bhaktapur is 80 while 344 are for remaining districts.

A total of 21 candidates for the one HoR member post and 43 candidates for 43 SA seats are on the race. Similarly, there are 273 candidates for 48 posts at the local level including one mayor of a sub-metropolis, three chairs of rural municipalities and 43 ward chairs.

Meanwhile, four national observers’ organizations have been given permission for election monitoring. They are National Election Observation Committee, Nepal Aawaj, Deependra Kandel Initiative and Rastra Nirman Manch Nepal.
