RASUWA: A lake formed in the mountainous terrain of China near the Nepal border has burst, prompting authorities in Rasuwa to urge residents to remain alert.
The District Administration Office, Rasuwa, said a large lake formed near the confluence of the Chochen River and Purepu Tsangpo River in China has burst.
Rasuwa Chief District Officer Narendra Pariyar said the information about the lake breach was received from the Chinese side.
The development comes as Nepal continues to grapple with the devastating Bhotekoshi flood of August 26, which has caused significant loss of life and property across the country. Authorities have urged people living along the riverbanks and in other vulnerable areas to exercise caution in view of the latest development.
