DAMAULI: Nine bodies swept away by the floods in Rasuwa on Wednesday have been recovered in Tanahun. Police said some of the bodies are in a decomposed condition.
Tanahun Chief District Officer Shivalal Tiwari said nine bodies believed to have been swept away by the Rasuwa floods have been found so far. He added that no information has been received about other flood-related damage in the district.
The bodies were recovered from various locations along the Trishuli River between Puljeep and Devghat in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-4.
According to Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, deputy superintendent of police at the District Police Office, some of the bodies recovered from the river are in a damaged condition. He said the bodies will be sent to Bharatpur for post-mortem examinations after completing the necessary legal procedures.
Police have intensified search and surveillance operations, particularly along the river stretch from Aanbukhaireni to Devghat.
Chief District Officer Tiwari said all relevant agencies and available resources in the district have been placed on alert in view of possible risks. He added that additional personnel and resources will be mobilized as necessary.
Meanwhile, Tiwari said three people, including a driver, who had travelled from Bhanu to Timure have been reported missing. Their whereabouts remain unknown, and the concerned authorities are taking necessary measures to locate them and carry out search and rescue operations.
