KATHMANDU: Speaker Dol Prasad Arjyal has urged members of the House of Representatives to become more responsible in their roles, noting that their work, behaviour and conduct are being closely observed by voters and the public through various platforms.
Inaugurating an orientation program organised today by the Federal Parliament Secretariat for lawmakers, Speaker Arjyal said legislators should learn from past best practices in lawmaking and become more research-oriented and technology-friendly.
“Many of you are new to the House of Representatives. This program has been organised to help you better understand parliamentary procedures and make your work more effective,” he said. “I believe this learning will help you become more competent in parliamentary processes and procedures.”
He further emphasized that once elected by the people, lawmakers transition from private individuals to public figures and must act accordingly with greater responsibility.
During the event, Secretary General of the Secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey welcomed the participants and said the two-day orientation programme aims to provide detailed knowledge on parliamentary procedures and practices.
The Secretariat has organised the orientation programme at the Federal Parliament building in Singha Durbar on Monday and Tuesday.
