KATHMANDU: Thousands of heartbroken people have gathered at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel to pay final tributes and homage to late Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Rabindra Adhikari, and six others who lost their lives in the helicopter crash on Wednesday.
President, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Vice President, Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister, KP Oli, ministers, constitutional heads, highly-placed government officials, political leaders, businessmen, tourism entrepreneurs, and people from all walks of lives assembled at Tundikhel to pay their final tributes to the departed souls.
Adhikari’s body will be taken to Pokhara where he will be cremated with state honor, shortly. Similarly, final rites for Yubaraj Dahal, undersecretary at the Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority Nepal Birendra Prasad Shrestha, Dhruba Das Bhochhibhaya, Director at CAAN, Arjun Ghimire, body guard of late Minister Adhikari and captain Prabhakar KC will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today itself.
Bodies of seven victims of the Air Dynasty helicopter crash were airlifted to Kathmandu Thursday afternoon from the crash site in Taplejung.
The AS350B helicopter belonging to Air Dynasty was returning Kathmandu when it crashed in the Sisnekhola area at around 1:30 PM on Wednesday after carrying out a feasibility study of the proposed airport in Chuhandanda of Tehrathum district.
The government had formed a four-member probe commission led by former Secretary Yagya Prasad Gautam to investigate the chopper accident, and submit a report. Likewise, the nation observed state mourning across the country on Thursday.
