National Sports Council recalls CAN spokesperson Chumbi Lama

KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) has recalled Chumbi Lama, spokesperson of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), from his assigned responsibility.

The council issued a letter on Monday relieving Lama of his duties. According to the letter signed by Chandrakumar Rai, Chief of the Association Coordination Branch at the NSC, the decision was made on May 25, withdrawing him from the position of CAN representative member.

Lama had been nominated as an ex-officio member of the Cricket Association of Nepal on April 11, 2024. However, he has been recalled shortly after his appointment.

The NSC stated that the decision was taken in accordance with Section 3(4) of the approved statute of the Cricket Association of Nepal (1999, including the fourth amendment in 2023).

The decision has also been communicated to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Sports Development Department, and the Cricket Association of Nepal.

However, the council has not clarified the reason behind his recall in the official letter.
