Foreign Minister Khanal leaving for India today

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Sishir Khanal is leaving for India today on a two-day official visit.

The visit comes shortly after the return of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane from New Delhi.

Khanal will be in India on June 6 and 7 at the invitation of Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The visit had been scheduled prior to Lamichhane’s political engagements in India.

Deepak Bohara, a member of the RSP Secretariat and part of Lamichhane’s delegation, said discussions during the Foreign Minister’s visit are expected to cover a range of bilateral issues of mutual interest.

Earlier, Khanal met Jaishankar on the sidelines of the 9th Indian Ocean Conference held in Mauritius.
