Pakistan Embassy hosts essay and speech competition award ceremony in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu on Thursday organized an award ceremony for the 13th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and the 9th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition–2026.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, attended the event as chief guest.

This year’s essay competition marked the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with students writing on the topic: “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: mainstreaming the demand for Pakistan through constitutional means.”

In the essay category, Pratik Pokhrel of Viswa Niketan Secondary School, Kathmandu secured first place, followed by Dakshesh Ghimire of Chand Bagh School in second, and Nitin Thapa of Pranjali World School in third. All top performers received certificates and cash prizes, while 12 other outstanding participants were also awarded.

In the speech competition for higher secondary and tertiary-level students, participants spoke on the topic “Will AI engulf libraries?” Vishwakala Nepal of Reliance College, Kathmandu secured first place, followed by Tshiring Tamang of National Law College in second, and Bipyn Chaulagain of St. Xavier College, Maitighar in third. Twelve other participants also received certificates and cash awards.

Students from more than 50 higher secondary schools and universities across Nepal participated in the two competitions, which were conducted over the past two weeks and concluded with Thursday’s ceremony.

In his remarks, Ambassador Hashmi praised the students for their critical thinking and engagement with contemporary issues. He also appreciated their essays on constitutional efforts and the contributions of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, noting that such academic engagement helps strengthen understanding and serves as a bridge between Nepal and Pakistan.

The two competitions have been held annually for the past 13 and 9 years respectively and continue to attract strong participation from students across Nepal.
