Floods, landslides disrupt major highways across Nepal



KATHMANDU: Several major highways and road sections in different parts of Nepal continue to face disruptions due to floods and landslides.

According to the latest information from Nepal Police, all sections of the main highway in Rasuwa have remained completely blocked since the floods on September 26.

In Manang, the Besisahar-Khangsar road is currently operating on a single-lane basis following flood-related damage reported on October 4.

In Myagdi, the Beni-Jomsom road has been completely blocked by landslides at Baisari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2 and Sukebagar in Annapurna Rural Municipality-3.

Traffic along the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi has also been affected. The section at Ghumauri Ghat in Bulingtar Rural Municipality-6 has been restricted to a single lane since a landslide occurred on the evening of September 26.

Likewise, the road section at Janti Pahiro in Baudikali Rural Municipality-3 has been operating on a single-lane basis since a landslide struck on the afternoon of September 30. Authorities said heavy vehicles are currently unable to travel through the affected section.
