KATHMANDU: The Policy, Research and Training Academy of the Nepali Congress has formed 12 subcommittees to work on policy reforms and key social issues within the party.
Academy chief and party vice-president Bishwa Prakash Sharma announced the formation of the subcommittees on Monday.
According to the party, the subcommittees have been assigned responsibilities across a wide range of sectors, including land management, disaster response, mental health awareness, digital governance and electoral reforms.
The land management special campaign subcommittee will be led by Dr. Gopal Dahit, focusing on long-term solutions for squatters and unmanaged settlements.
The disaster management subcommittee will be coordinated by Man Bahadur Thapa, while the mental health awareness subcommittee has been assigned to Mohna Ansari.
Similarly, the information technology and digital governance subcommittee will be led by Deepesh Bista, and the electoral system reform subcommittee by Janak Chaut.
Other appointments include the infrastructure development concept subcommittee headed by Amrit Gyawali, entrepreneurship, innovation and employment subcommittee led by Khagendra Acharya, and the education policy subcommittee headed by Dr. Krishna Prasad Paudel.
The BP Knowledge Center subcommittee will be coordinated by Prakash Lamichhane, while the anti-caste discrimination awareness subcommittee has been assigned to Eliza Dhakal.
The digital awareness and fact-checking subcommittee will be led by Prakriti Bhattarai, and the Green Table subcommittee by Kanchan Jha.
According to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal of the party central office, a separate five-member committee has also been formed under the coordination of Vice Head Madhu Acharya to draft an internal code of conduct for the party.
