JULMA: Six companies contracted to construct and upgrade roads along the Karnali Highway have been blacklisted for violating contractual obligations.
The companies were also contracted to maintain roads along the route connecting Jumla with the Manang and Mustang districts. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office took action against the companies following recommendations from the concerned road office.
Shravan Kumar Mahatara, chief of the Road Division Office in Jumla, said the office had initiated action against the construction companies and forwarded the cases to the central office in Kathmandu.
Binamra Construction Service of Surkhet, which had been contracted to construct a road under a project scheduled to run from fiscal year 2075/76 to 2079/80, has been blacklisted for three years.
Similarly, Dhruba Building Service of Birendranagar has been barred from participating in public procurement for two years, while Abinash Construction Service of Chhayanath, Mugu, has been blacklisted for one year.
The blacklisting has been carried out under Clause 63 of the Public Procurement Act, 2063.
Birendra Rawal, a sub-engineer at the Road Division Office, said Shankar Mali Construction Service of Kathmandu and Man Shahi Construction Service of Kalikot had each been blacklisted for three years. Kashyap Contractors Service of Kathmandu has been blacklisted for two years.
The companies were found to have failed to comply with their contractual obligations, resulting in action by the authorities.
While the blacklisting remains in effect, the concerned companies are barred from participating in public procurement processes.
