Moderate to heavy rain likely in Kathmandu Valley today



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has said there is a possibility of rain in the Kathmandu Valley today.

According to the Division, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in the Valley this afternoon. The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy until noon, after which cloud cover will increase, bringing the possibility of rainfall.

Meteorologists classify rainfall of less than 10 millimeters within 24 hours as light rain. Rainfall between 10 millimeters and 50 millimeters is considered moderate, while rainfall between 50 millimeters and 100 millimeters is categorized as heavy rain.

Similarly, rainfall between 100 millimeters and 200 millimeters within 24 hours is termed very heavy rain, while rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters is classified as extremely heavy rain.
