POKHARA: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has stressed the need to end internal bitterness within the party and strengthen unity among its members.
Speaking at a programme organised by the BP Memorial Library in Pokhara on Monday, Thapa said the party would launch a renewed dialogue to reconnect with voters who had become disillusioned with the Congress.
Marking the 113th BP Jayanti, he proposed a special campaign to reach out to families that were once associated with the party but have since drifted away.
“More than 200,000 families have distanced themselves from us. We must reach out to them and engage in dialogue,” Thapa said.
Pledging to work with integrity throughout his four-year tenure, Thapa urged party leaders to abandon ostentatious displays and focus instead on grassroots engagement in villages and local communities.
He also announced that the authority to select candidates for the upcoming local-level elections would be fully delegated to the party’s local units.
