KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan University has accelerated the conduct of long-pending examinations in a bid to restore its academic calendar, which has remained irregular in recent years.
According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations, the university is currently running multiple exams simultaneously to clear the backlog and ensure that regular examinations can be held from the month of Shrawan (mid-July/early August).
Controller of Examinations Laxman Paudel said the university is conducting three to four types of exams each month as part of this effort. He added that even chance exams dating back to 1996 are being completed by the end of Asar (mid-June/early July).
In Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May) alone, four different examinations are underway, including second-year BALLB, regular second-year bachelor’s level exams, and first- and second-year B.Tech examinations.
Paudel stated that all pending exams will be completed by Asar, after which examinations listed under the academic calendar for 2083 BS will be conducted as scheduled from Shrawan.
The university has already published exam schedules for Jestha (mid-May to mid-June), including first-year exams for both three-year and four-year bachelor’s programs, third-year BALLB, and third-year B.Tech. Similarly, regular fourth-year bachelor’s level exams across all faculties are scheduled for Asar.
“By Asar, we will have cleared exams disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Gen-Z movement, and from Shrawan onwards, we will strictly follow the academic calendar,” Paudel said.
Around 115,000 students are currently appearing in these ongoing examinations.
The examination office has also been publishing results within 100 days of exam completion, according to Paudel.
