Education Minister and Chinese Ambassador hold talks on cooperation



KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, held a courtesy meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming, on Monday.

The meeting, held at the ministry in Singha Durbar, focused on strengthening cooperation and collaboration between Nepal and China in the fields of education, science and technology, and sports.

Discussions particularly centered on school infrastructure development, the promotion of digital systems in teaching and learning, and broader institutional capacity building. The two sides also exchanged views on contemporary issues and ongoing areas of partnership.

The meeting further highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations between Nepal and China, with both sides emphasizing continued cooperation and mutual support.

Minister Pokharel, who also serves as the government spokesperson, expressed his interest in expanding collaboration with the Chinese government, especially in developing school infrastructure and institutionalizing digital education systems.

He also urged for the timely completion of ongoing education sector projects and called for increased promotion of scholarships provided by China, aligned with the interests of Nepali youth.

Ambassador Mao Ming, in response, said that the Chinese government remains positive and willing to enhance partnership and cooperation on the matters raised by Nepal.

Both sides reached a common understanding to further strengthen mutual interests and deepen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.
