Health Ministry reshuffles senior officials, reassigns key responsibilities



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has reshuffled responsibilities of 11th-level officials under the health group, including transfers and deputation recalls.

Health Minister Nisha Mehta made the decision at the ministerial level on Friday, reassigning several division chiefs across the ministry, departments, and central units.

According to Divas Acharya, chief of the ministry’s Employee Administration Division, Dr. Anuj Bhattchan has been appointed as head of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Department of Health Services, a position that had remained vacant.

Dr. Chuman Lal Das has been assigned in place of Bhattchan. Similarly, Dr. Madan Upadhyay, previously chief of the Family Welfare Division, has been transferred to Narayani Hospital.

Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, chief of the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit (HEOC) and spokesperson of the ministry, has been recalled to Bir Hospital. Following his reassignment, Yashoda Aryal, chief of the Coordination Division, will now serve as the ministry’s spokesperson.

Earlier, Dr. Prakash Prasad Shah had been appointed to the National Health Training Center. Likewise, Dr. Pushparaj Poudel, a 10th-level official at the Policy Planning Division, has been sent back to Naradevi Hospital.
