Clouds over hills, scorching heat set to grip Terai

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the partial influence of western and local winds, resulting in varied weather conditions across the country.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the Himalayan and hilly regions are expected to see partly cloudy conditions, while the weather will remain mostly clear in the Terai.

The Division has forecast a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in parts of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

Hot conditions are likely in valleys and low-lying areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as across the Terai of Madhesh Province. A heat wave is also likely in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi Province, as well as in the highlands of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces. The rest of the country will see mainly clear skies.

There is also a chance of light rain or snowfall at one or two locations in the mountainous areas of Koshi Province, the Division said.
