Harka Sampang says MCC should be scrapped

KATHMANDU: Harka Raj Rai (Harka Sampang), chair and lawmaker of the Shram Sanskriti Party, has said he remains firm on issues related to national sovereignty and patriotism.

In a Facebook post, Rai said his party stands as a responsible and patriotic opposition and that he will remain steadfast on the issues of sovereignty and nationalism that he has long raised.

He also urged people not to doubt his stance that the Millennium Challenge Corporation Nepal Compact should be scrapped.

Rai further stated that the position of deputy speaker is a state post rather than a party post, clarifying that his party has no vested interest in it.

“We are a responsible patriotic opposition. The deputy speaker is a state position, not a party one. We have no vested interest,” he wrote. “Our issues of sovereignty and patriotism remain firm. I repeat, the MCC must be scrapped—do not doubt Nepali blood.”
