Top leaders set to address first meeting of House of Representatives



KATHMANDU: Top political leaders are set to address the first meeting of the House of Representatives elected through the March 5 polls.

A meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday under the coordination of Arjun Narasingh KC reached an agreement to allow top leaders of major parties to address the first sitting of the House.

From the Rastriya Swatantra Party, party chair Rabi Lamichhane is scheduled to speak. if Lamichhane is unable to attend, senior leader and Prime Minister Balen Shah is likely to address the meeting.
From the CPN-UML, parliamentary party leader Ram Bahadur Thapa will deliver remarks.

The Nepali Congress has yet to decide who will address the meeting on behalf of the party.

The party has also not finalized its parliamentary party leader. With several leaders, including party president Gagan Thapa, reportedly defeated in the elections, the selection process remains pending.

Meanwhile, internal differences have surfaced within the Nepali Congress between the faction of Sher Bahadur Deuba and leaders aligned with Gagan Thapa.

Similarly, Harka Sampang, chair of the Shram Sanskriti Party, is also scheduled to address the meeting.

From the Nepali Communist Party of Nepal, parliamentary party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal will speak.

Likewise, parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party is also scheduled to address the House.
