Lightning strike kills one, injures another in Makwanpur



MAKWANPUR: One person has died and another has been injured after being struck by lightning in Makwanpur district.

The incident occurred last evening in the Bagmati River area of Bhaise, Bagmati Rural Municipality-1. Two locals were struck by lightning while returning home after fishing.

According to police, 32-year-old Ajay Pahari, who was critically injured in the incident, died during treatment at a hospital in Hetauda at around 11:25 p.m.

Another victim, 37-year-old Ujwal Thokar, is undergoing treatment in Hetauda and is reported to be in moderate condition.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makwanpur, said the victims were hit by lightning while heading home from the river.

Pahari was initially rushed to Sanbhi Polyclinic in Jhurjhure for primary treatment before being referred to Hetauda, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
