Ram Navami celebrated with grandeur across Mithila

MAHOTTARI: The festival of Ram Navami is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the Mithila region today with various religious rituals and ceremonies.

Temples, and shrines across Mithila have organized special religious programs. Continuous chanting of Ram’s name and staging of Ramleela are taking place, particularly in temples of the Ramanuja sect, while devotional songs are being sung in villages and towns.

Mahant Rabindradas Vaishnav of Laxminarayan Math said that Lord Ram is not only worshipped as a deity but also revered as the son-in-law of Mithila. “This makes Ram Navami a unique and significant festival in the region,” he said.

Recitations of the Ramayana, Shrimad Bhagavat, and Sundarkand are underway in Ram-Janaki temples across Mithila, with devotees observing fasting.

Religious leaders note that among the 24 incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the Ram avatar in the Treta Yuga holds special significance. Traditions related to Ram’s arrival in Mithila, Sita’s swayamvar, their marriage, and subsequent journeys further add to the cultural importance of the festival in the region.
