U.S. Embassy Nepal launches nationwide entrepreneurship skill-building program

NEPALGUNJ: A nationwide Entrepreneurship Skill-Building Program aimed at empowering early-stage entrepreneurs has launched in Nepalgunj on Monday, marking the start of a multi-city initiative to strengthen Nepal’s private sector and innovation ecosystem.

The program is being implemented by the U.S. Embassy Nepal in partnership with the International Development Institute (IDI) and Aadyanta Advisory. It aims to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with practical skills to build sustainable businesses, attract investment, and compete in regional and global markets.

Beginning in Nepalgunj for participants from Lumbini Province, the initiative will expand to Dhangadi, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Hetauda, Bhairahawa, and Pokhara. Approximately 200 entrepreneurs from all seven provinces will participate through a combination of in-person workshops and virtual bootcamps.

Training sessions will focus on business fundamentals, market validation, investor communication, digital marketing, and export readiness. Organizers say these competencies will help entrepreneurs turn ideas into viable enterprises that create jobs, boost trade, and contribute to long-term economic growth.

“Entrepreneurs are essential to economic growth and innovation,” said Mike Harker, Public Affairs Chief at the U.S. Embassy Nepal. “By supporting Nepali founders as they build scalable businesses, this program strengthens Nepal’s private sector and creates new opportunities for trade and commercial cooperation between the United States and Nepal.”

The initiative is part of the broader U.S.–Nepal Commercial Diplomacy Series, which seeks to expand economic ties by promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and private sector growth.

The program will also connect participants with mentors, investors, and industry experts, while providing hands-on training to refine business models and prepare ventures for growth and collaboration with American firms.

The International Development Institute and Aadyanta Advisory are implementing the program in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce Nepal and the Global Impact Collective.

Organizers say the initiative will expand access to entrepreneurship support across the country, helping to strengthen Nepal’s innovation ecosystem and advance economic cooperation between Nepal and the United States.
