Protest at National Women Commission demands justice for victims of violence

KATHMANDU: Survivors and families of violence-affected women held a protest at the National Women Commission, demanding immediate justice and accountability.

Demonstrators raised slogans such as “Ensure women’s rights,” “End violence against women,” “Why is the Women Commission silent?” “Deliver justice to Inisha BK and Reshmika Pariyar,” and “Protect daughters and girls.”

The families demanded a swift investigation into the rape and murder of Inisha BK from Surkhet and strict legal action against perpetrators in the rape-murder case of Reshmika Pariyar from Khotang. The protesters said that even after staging a sit-in at Maiti Ghar Mandala for justice, their concerns remained unaddressed, prompting them to bring the issue to the Women Commission.

Khotang Service Society expressed solidarity with the victims, with secretary Navaraj Roka stating that the perpetrators must face the strictest possible punishment and that victims should receive justice as soon as possible.
