Western low-pressure system to bring rain today

KATHMANDU: The influence of a western low-pressure system, combined with local winds, has led to cloudy conditions, rain, and snowfall in various parts of the country, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are experiencing generally cloudy weather, while mountainous areas of other provinces are also seeing cloud cover.

Likewise, the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces are partly cloudy, with mostly clear conditions prevailing in the remaining areas.

The Division forecasts that most parts of the country will remain cloudy this afternoon. There is a likelihood of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and hail in many areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim, as well as in some parts of the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Koshi provinces.

A few locations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim may also experience heavy rain or snowfall. Meanwhile, cloudy conditions are expected to persist tonight, with chances of moderate rain and snowfall, along with thunder and lightning, in many areas of Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Gandaki provinces, and in some places elsewhere.

The Division has urged the public, farmers, travelers, and those involved in transportation to remain cautious while carrying out their regular activities.
