Snowfall likely in high hilly and mountainous areas today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing partial influence of westerly winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division.

At present, partial cloud cover is seen over the mountainous regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as other high-altitude areas, while the weather remains mainly clear in the rest of the country.

This afternoon, the mountainous regions are expected to remain generally cloudy and the hilly areas partly cloudy, while the Terai will see mostly clear weather. Fog is likely to occur in some parts of the Terai during the morning hours.

There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in a few places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Bagmati provinces, and at one or two locations in similar areas of other provinces.

Tonight, partial cloud cover is expected in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces, while the rest of the country will remain mostly clear. Light rain and snowfall are likely at one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.

The Division has urged residents of areas forecast to experience fog, mist or snowfall, as well as those engaged in daily activities including transportation services, to exercise caution.
