Clash between two communities in Rautahat’s Gaur escalates; prohibitory order imposed

A clash between two communities in Sanagadh village of Gaur Municipality–6 has taken a serious turn and remains unresolved even after three days. What began as a minor dispute on Thursday night escalated into incidents of arson and vandalism. According to police, the dispute arose over music played during a wedding ceremony. The situation intensified as the music was played during night prayers at a nearby mosque, leading to a heated exchange and alleged physical assault on some individuals.

Clashes escalate between communities in Sunagada, Rautahat

Clashes between two communities in Sunagada village have intensified, with the situation remaining uncontrolled three days after it began. What started as a minor dispute on Thursday night escalated on Friday into arson and property damage. According to police, the conflict arose over music played during a wedding ceremony. On Thursday a community held a wedding with music, which reportedly drew objections from the an another community, sparking verbal disputes. Tensions increased further when music was played during nighttime prayers at the mosque, leading to incidents of physical assault.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki visits Lumbini, inspects key heritage sites

Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Saturday visited major heritage and religious sites in Lumbini. During her visit, the Prime Minister inspected the Mayadevi Temple, the monastery built by the Government of Thailand, the museum, the Vajrayana Temple, and the World Peace Stupa. She arrived in Lumbini following her visit to Rupandehi, where she had held discussions with concerned authorities regarding election preparations.

Trash barriers installed in Kathmandu rivers to collect floating waste

The Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee under the Ministry of Urban Development has installed trash barriers in rivers across Kathmandu to collect floating waste. A total of Rs 6.5 million has been spent on the installation. Following an agreement signed on Shrawan 2, trash barriers have been installed at six locations: upstream of Gokarna Barrage, near Guhyeshwari, downstream of Pashupati at Tilganga, at the confluence of Manohara and Bagmati rivers, at UN Park, and at Balkumari where the Karmanasa River meets the Bagmati.

CPN-UML intensifies door-to-door campaign in Damak-8 for HoR by-election

The CPN-UML has intensified its door-to-door campaign at the tole and ward levels targeting the House of Representatives (HoR) member election scheduled for March 5. The UML Ward Committee of Damak-8 has stepped up its election-focused outreach program in preparation for the upcoming polls. According to the Ward Election Mobilization Committee, a door-to-door campaign was conducted today in Saraswati Tole and earlier in Kirat Kanchan Tole within the ward.

Oli accuses RSP of attempting to disrupt election after ‘concluding it will lose’

Chair of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has accused the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of engaging in unruly activities after allegedly concluding that it would not win the election. Speaking to journalists at Bhadrapur Airport in Jhapa on Saturday, Oli said recent actions of the RSP appeared indecent, inappropriate, and aimed at escalating tensions. “I feel that the RSP may have concluded that it will not win the election. That is why incidents such as burning flags and displaying extremely indecent and inappropriate behavior, as well as attempts to create tension, have started to surface,” Oli said.

Those rejected by history spreading confusion about polls: Prachanda

Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has objected to what he described as attempts by “those discarded by history” to spread confusion about the upcoming elections. Speaking at a program organized by the NCP Dolakha–Kathmandu Contact Election Mobilization Committee in Kathmandu on Saturday, Dahal said that although the election date has already been fixed, certain individuals are spreading rumors that the polls will not take place.

CPN-UML accuses Rastriya Swatantra Party of attempting to disrupt elections

The Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has accused the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of trying to disrupt the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5. In a statement released on Saturday, UML said that as the election date approaches, the country is increasingly becoming tense and fearful. The party criticized the government for failing to ensure a safe, fair, and transparent election environment. UML highlighted that certain groups have intensified activities such as burning flags with the “Sun” election symbol and spreading hatred against party leadership, actions it described as attempts to plunge the country into electoral conflict.

Home Minister inspects polling stations in Kathmandu and Makwanpur

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5 will be conducted in a free, fair and fear-free environment. During an on-site inspection and monitoring of various polling stations in Kathmandu and Makwanpur today, Minister Aryal expressed confidence that all stakeholders would extend cooperation to ensure a peaceful and fear-free election. He also stressed that active participation of citizens is essential to successfully conduct the election in a peaceful atmosphere.

Seven months’ foreign trade marked by Rs 955 billion deficit

In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, the country’s foreign trade transactions stood at Rs 1,291.63 billion, while the deficit surpassed Rs 955 billion. According to the Department of Customs, during the review period, imports amounted to Rs 1,123.48 billion, while exports were valued at Rs 168 billion. The data indicates the country’s ballooning trade deficit.

60 cameras used in tiger census go missing in Chitwan–Parsa complex

A total of 60 cameras used in the tiger census in the Chitwan National Park–Parsa National Park complex have gone missing. Information Officer of Chitwan National Park, Avinash Thapa Magar, said that out of 85 problematic cameras, 60 were lost while 25 were damaged. He added that a total of 1,780 cameras were deployed in the two national parks for the census.

Two more arrested for burning UML flag in Dang

Police have arrested two more individuals on the charge of burning a flag bearing the election symbol of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) in Tulsipur, Dang. The incident took place at Birendra Chowk in Tulsipur–5. According to the District Police Office, Dang, those arrested are 30-year-old Ramesh Rana Magar of Tulsipur–4, Halwar, and 24-year-old Bikram Pariyar of Tulsipur–6, Gaidar.

EC dispatches ballot papers to Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Koshi

The Election Commission (EC) has intensified the distribution of ballot papers and other election materials to constituencies across the country. So far, ballot papers have been dispatched to Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Koshi provinces. Distribution of ballot papers and other election materials is also underway in the remaining provinces. The Commission has completed the printing of ballot papers under both the first-past-the-post (FPTP) and proportional representation (PR) electoral systems for the House of Representatives elections.
