SARLAHI: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the party possesses the vision, determination, and concrete plans needed to transform the country.
Thapa, who is contesting the House of Representatives election from Sarlahi Constituency-4, made the remarks while meeting voters on Saturday. He said the Nepali Congress is participating in the election with clear plans and preparation to deliver on commitments that remained unfulfilled in the past, learning from previous shortcomings.
“After the second special general convention, the Nepali Congress has been renewed. This new Congress has a five-year work plan, enthusiasm, and determination,” Thapa said. “We have learned from the past and are clear about what needs to be done in the coming days.”
During the interaction, Thapa stressed the need to create employment opportunities within the country to retain youth. He said the private sector should be encouraged through supportive policies and regulations to generate jobs.
“We need to create nearly 500,000 jobs every year. This cannot be done by the Prime Minister or the government alone. We must encourage the private sector, create an investment-friendly environment, and introduce supportive policies and regulations,” he said.
He added that the information technology sector holds significant potential and that by producing skilled manpower, Nepal can attract foreign investors. With appropriate policies and a supportive government, he said, investors from around the world would be encouraged to invest in Nepal.
Thapa also pledged to utilize his knowledge and network within a year to address pressing issues in education, health, and entrepreneurship in Sarlahi-4.
Leaders from other parties join Nepali Congress
On the occasion, Thapa welcomed several leaders and cadres from other parties into the Nepali Congress. Among them were former Constituent Assembly member and Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal leader Kedar Nandan Chaudhary, as well as Manish Kumar Mishra, who had been associated with the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party and later JSP-Nepal.
At a program held in Balara Municipality-9, Achalgadh, Thapa formally inducted multiple leaders by offering tika and garlands. They included JSP-Nepal leader Veena Sinha, former mayoral candidate of Bishnu Rural Municipality Arvind Kumar Singh, regional vice-chair of Constituency-4 Birendra Prasad Yadav, Nawal Kumar Singh, and Shyam Guptal, who had previously contested from the Bahujan Samajbadi Party in Godaita Municipality.
Thapa said that his relationship with the people of the constituency is evolving into that of a family member and pledged not to let their trust and affection go to waste.
