NC Vice-President Sharma urges leaders, cadres to unite for elections

CHITWAN: Nepali Congress Vice-President Bishwo Prakash Sharma has urged party leaders and cadres to work in unity for the upcoming elections without resorting to personal attacks.

Speaking at a program organized by Nepali Congress Chitwan on Monday, Sharma asked party members to internalize the outcome of the party’s special general convention and actively engage in the elections with a non-factional mindset and a commitment to change the country.

“We should not abuse anyone. Let us explain our agenda to the people and work to ensure the party’s victory in the elections, respecting our history and values,” he said.

Sharma also directed leaders and cadres to remain active in their own wards during the party’s planned 21-day campaign targeting March 5. He said leaders assigned by the district, province and central levels aside, others should focus their efforts within their respective wards.

“Let us work actively in our own wards. There is no need to go to other wards. Take the party’s and the country’s agenda to every household in your own area,” he said.

At the program, central committee member Jit Narayan Shrestha said the party has fielded 75 percent youth and new candidates nationwide and urged party members to work collectively to ensure their victory.

The program, chaired by Nepali Congress Chitwan President Rajeshwar Khanal, was also attended by House of Representatives candidates Rajendra Burlakoti (Constituency-1), Meena Kumari Kharel (Constituency-2), and Tek Prasad Gurung (Constituency-3), who emphasized the need for unity among party leaders and cadres to secure victory in the upcoming elections.

The candidates stressed the importance of informing voters about the party’s work and running a coordinated campaign to mobilize support.
