KATHMANDU: As many as 394 tourists who had traveled to the Mansarovar and Langtang areas are currently out of contact, according to the Department of Tourism.
Department of Tourism Information Officer Suraj Ghimire said authorities have so far been unable to determine the whereabouts or condition of the tourists.
“According to our records, 394 tourists had traveled to the Mansarovar and Langtang areas. Of them, 291 are foreign nationals and 96 are Nepali,” Ghimire said. He added that the figures may vary and that the tourists could be in different locations, but they have been unable to establish contact because their mobile phones are not working.
He said it was currently difficult to determine where the tourists were when the floods struck. Meanwhile, the Department said all tourist police personnel stationed in Syafrubesi are safe.
