HoR polls: 3 million ballot papers printed for FPTP polls

KATHMANDU: A total of three million ballot papers have been printed so far for the direct election of the House of Representatives (hOr) scheduled for March 5.

According to the Election Commission, ballot papers for 25 districts have already been printed. The Commission stated that printing is being carried out regularly at the Janak Education Materials Center in Bhaktapur. Meanwhile, the printing of 28.3 million ballot papers for the proportional representation system has been completed.

Similarly, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers have been printed for voter education purposes. To promote voter awareness, the Voter Education Unit under the Election Information Communication and Coordination Center of the Commission has so far approved and made public 158 educational materials.

These materials have been disseminated through the Commission’s official Facebook page and social media platforms including X, TikTok, and YouTube.

The Commission believes that such materials targeted at voters, political parties, candidates, and other stakeholders will help enhance the integrity of the election, ensure access to official and reliable information, and reduce the impact of false and misleading content.

Meanwhile, with the aim of informing the international community about the House of Representatives elections, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Election Commission, has held a briefing for heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and United Nations agencies in Kathmandu.

During the program, information was shared on the election environment, preparations undertaken by the Commission, and national and international election observation, among other issues, said Election Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
