Prime Minister’s relief funds reach Rs 17.54 billion



KATHMANDU: Contributions to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund continue to come in following the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the total balance across the funds’ various accounts has reached Rs 17.54 billion as of Sunday, amounting to Rs 17,544,289,678.

The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund holds Rs 12.95 billion across accounts in nine commercial banks. Its US dollar accounts at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank hold a combined USD 29.72 million.

The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the fund for flood-affected areas.
