1,246 polling stations in Madhesh Province classified as highly sensitive ahead of elections



JANAKPURDHAM: Out of a total of 2,160 polling stations in Madhesh Province for the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, 1,246 have been classified as highly sensitive, authorities said.

According to the Madhesh Province Police Office, most of the highly sensitive polling stations are located near the Indian border. Planned security and monitoring measures are being implemented to ensure safety, said Provincial Police spokesperson Kamal Thapa.

At a press conference in Janakpurdham on Thursday, officials said that out of 32 constituencies in the province, 755 polling stations are categorized as sensitive while 159 are considered normal.

Madhesh Province has a total of 4,471 polling centers. Political parties and independent candidates have fielded 1,028 contenders for the election.

The province has 3,517,123 registered voters, including 1,905,819 men and 1,611,304 women, according to election authorities.
