President Bhandari appoints governors

KATHMANDU: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Monday appointed governors for all the seven provinces.

Issuing a statement, the Office of President said that President Bhandari made the appointments as recommended by the government in line with Article 163 (2) of the Constitution.

A meeting of Council of Ministers held at prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar this afternoon had recommended Som Nath Adhikari ‘Pyasi’ as governor for Province-1, Tilak Pariyar for Province-2, Bishnu Prasad Prasai for Province-3 and Amik Sherchan for Gandaki Province.

Likewise, Dharma Nath Yadav was recommended for Province-5, Govinda Prasad Kalauni for Karnali Province and Sharmila Kumari Panta for Sudurpaschim Province.

They will be administered an oath of office and secrecy at a function to be organized at Sheetal Niwas, President’s Office at 9:30 am on Tuesday morning.
