Sunkoshi bus plunge update: At least 10 killed



KATHMANDU: The number of passengers killed in a bus accident at Sukute of Sindhupalchowk district has reached 10.

The accident occurred when a bus (Ba 2 Kha 7245) carrying more than 40 passengers veered off the road and plunged into Sunkoshi River at Sukute of Sindhupalchowk district on Sunday afternoon.

Most of them died on the spot, police said.

The ill-fated bus was heading toward Kathmandu from Magedeurali of Dolakha district.

According to District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhav Kafle, the casualties could be higher since the accident has been of big magnitude.

The critically injured passengers have been sent to Kathmandu while some are receiving treatment at Sindhu Sadabahar Hospital.

Police along with locals are carrying out rescue operations.
