Mahabir Pun says new leaders must unite to pave way for new prime minister

MYAGDI: Outgoing Minister for Education and Myagdi lawmaker Mahabir Pun has said that the country can only get a new prime minister if new leaders come together and work in unity.

Speaking in Myagdi after submitting his resignation from the Cabinet and returning to the district, Pun said a change in leadership would not be impossible unless emerging leaders support one another.

Pun, who resigned from his ministerial post overnight, has filed his candidacy as an independent candidate for the House of Representatives from Myagdi.

Referring to the election schedule, Pun noted that Thursday is the final day for candidates to withdraw their nominations, adding that it remains to be seen how many contenders will opt out of the race.

He stressed that new leadership must actively back new faces if the country is to see meaningful political change at the top.
