Congress finalizes candidates for 34 constituencies



KATHMANDU: Gagan Kumar Thapa, who became the president of the Nepali Congress through the party’s second special general convention, has begun rapidly distributing election tickets.

After receiving official recognition as party president from the Election Commission, Thapa has intensified the process of selecting candidates who will file their nominations on Tuesday.

For the election scheduled on March 5, he has already distributed tickets in the first phase to candidates from Himalayan and high-hill districts.

Earlier, former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba had signed off on tickets for proportional representation and the National Assembly.

The following are the Nepali Congress candidates who have received tickets so far:

  1. Jumla – Deep Bahadur Shahi
  2. Salyan – Kesh Bahadur Bista
  3. Humla – Jayapati Rokaya
  4. Dolpa – Karna Bahadur Budha
  5. Dailekh–2 – Dikpal Shahi
  6. Dailekh–1 – Basana Thapa
  7. Mugu – Khadak Bahadur Shahi
  8. Kalikot – Harsha Bam
  9. Bajura – Janak Raj Giri
  10. Rasuwa – Mohan Acharya
  11. Myagdi – Karna Bahadur Bhandari
  12. Morang–3 – Sunil Sharma
  13. Achham–1 – Bharat Kumar Swar
  14. Achham–2 – Pushpa Bahadur Shah
  15. Baitadi – Chatur Bahadur Chand
  16. Rukum East – Kusum Thapa Magar
  17. Rolpa – Dr. Sudan Kumar Wali
  18. Baglung–2 – Tek Raj Poudel
  19. Pyuthan – Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel
  20. Kathmandu–3 – Dujang Sherma
  21. Panchthar – Narendra Kerung
  22. Tehrathum – Santosh Subba
