Nearly 9 million ballots printed for proportional polls



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has printed a total of 8,917,000 ballots for the proportional representation segment of the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

The ballots are being printed at the Janak Education Materials Centre in Bhaktapur. In the past 24 hours alone, 1,314,000 ballots were printed.

The Commission aims to print a total of 20,830,000 ballots. According to election rules, a few percent more ballots than the total number of voters must be printed.

As per the latest figures, 11,913,000 ballots are yet to be printed. So far, ballots equivalent to 20,830 boxes have been packed, with another 14,420 boxes pending packing.

Additionally, 1,098,200 ballots have been sent to the Commission as sample ballots.
