Kathmandu’s morning temperature climbs slightly



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu’s minimum temperature has increased for the second consecutive day in the initial measurement since the beginning of the Nepali month of Magh (mid-January).

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was 4.4°C at 5:45 am today (January 16). Yesterday, the minimum temperature at the same time was 4.3°C, while on Thursday at 8:45 am, it had been 3.6°C.

The official minimum temperature for today (Friday) will be recorded at 8:45 am, and it is expected to be lower than the initial measurement taken at 5:45 am.

On January 15, the initial measurement showed that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley had risen by 2°C compared to the previous day. Earlier, on Wednesday, the initial minimum temperature in Kathmandu was 2.7°C, later dropping to 2.3°C at 8:45 am.

The Division records the minimum and maximum temperatures daily across the country, including Kathmandu. The minimum temperature is measured at 8:45 am, while the maximum is recorded at 5:45 pm.

Meteorologists explain that overnight cloud cover can increase the minimum temperature in the morning, while clear skies usually result in a lower minimum temperature.
